A representative of the Supreme Audit Office of the Republic of Srpska Public Sector participated in an international seminar organized by the Joint Vienna Institute (JVI) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
Ms. Snježana Savatić Banjac, financial auditor at the Supreme Audit Office of the Republic of Srpska Public Sector, attended the seminar entitled “Corporate Governance and the Legal Framework for State-Owned Enterprises,” held in Vienna, Austria, from 27 to 29 July 2026. The seminar was jointly organized by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the Joint Vienna Institute (JVI).
The seminar brought together 23 participants, including representatives of the International Monetary Fund, central banks, supreme audit institutions, ministries of finance, ministries of economy, capital market regulatory authorities, and investment funds from 13 countries, including Bulgaria, Slovenia, Ukraine, Moldova, Türkiye, Georgia, Latvia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and others.
Over the course of the three-day programme, participants examined key issues and challenges related to the governance of state-owned enterprises and public financial management. The seminar covered the OECD Principles of Corporate Governance and the interaction between public and private law, the legal and institutional aspects of establishing and operating national holding companies and strategic investment funds in line with international standards, the impact of stock exchange listing and capital market regulatory requirements on state-owned enterprises, legal mechanisms for restructuring financially or operationally distressed enterprises, including corporate insolvency procedures and special legal frameworks for strategic enterprises, as well as the IMF’s specialized tool for assessing the performance of state-owned enterprises.
Participation in this international seminar provided an excellent opportunity to exchange best practices and practical experience, while also strengthening knowledge of contemporary methodologies that will contribute to the further development and enhancement of public sector audit processes for state-owned enterprises and public institutions in the Republic of Srpska.
